Implant

Dental Implants are permanent and comfortable root replacements for one or more missing teeth and are often use in place of a fixed bridge. The actual implant is a small titanium cylinder "screw" that is surgically placed into the jaw bone taking the place of the natural tooth root. Two advantages of an implant over a bridge are that the teeth next to the space aren't affected with an implant as they are in the preparation for a bridge.

Dental implants can be used to support a number of dental prostheses, including crowns, implant-supported bridges or dentures. They can also be used as anchorage for orthodontic tooth movement. The use of dental implants permits undirectional tooth movement without reciprocal action.
