Inlay and Onlay
Inlays and Onlays are used to repair damaged teeth usually due to decay. They can also be used to replace amalgam "silver" fillings. Inlays and Onlays can be made from Porcelain, Gold, Composite or Ceramic Resin. Dr. Anderson recommends Porcelain due to its strength and its aesthetic tooth colored appearance. An Inlay is similar to a filling and lies inside the cusp tips of the tooth. They are custom-made to fit the prepared tooth and are then cemented into place. An Onlay is a more extensive restoration that covers one or more cusps of a tooth.
